The new link opening up the PANORAMA ski tour has come
into operation. Thanks to the creation of two new lifts,
you can ski from Pozza to Alba di Canazei, and then continue
on towards Canazei and the Sellaronda, skiing through one
of the most beautiful scenic areas in the Dolomites. There
are 12 lifts with over 25 km. of skiable pistes. You start
from Pozza with the panoramic Buffaure cable car, and just
a few minutes into your journey you have unforgettable views
over the Catinaccio, the Latemar and then further up towards
the Sassolungo. The enchanting scenery of these mountains
has inspired legends about kings, queens, gnomes and fairies.
In a few minutes, you reach the uphill station and descend
a short way to take the Col de Val Vacin chair lift, offering
views of the rugged outline of the Monzoni mountains as
you go up. From the top, you can gaze, as far as the eye
can see, into the magical silence of the Val San Nicolò
and the white slopes of the Val Jiumela - its twin, as the
Ladin name tells us. Two new chair lifts (Orsa Maggiore
and Pala del Geiger) make their way up the slope to reach
the Sella Brunech, 2428 m up. The panorama is breathtaking:
from the Presanella to the Sassolungo and as far as the
Marmolada. And then it’s a long descent across the
Ciampac basin and the difficult black “del Bosco”
run taking you to Alba.

The new Val di Fassa Ski Stadium was officially opened
in January 2000. After the Pozza-Buffaure cable car was
completed in 1996 to relaunch winter tourism in Pozza di
Fassa and in the Fassa Centre in general, the Buffaure Cable
Car Company decided to build a state-of-the-art competition
centre. After a first inspection by technicians in the sector,
local skiing coaches and designers, they came up with the
possibility of creating a piste with good competition features.
The existing piste was drastically modified, with over 25,000
cu. m. of earth being shifted, and the artificial snow-making
equipment was completely renewed with the building of the
highly modern pump room and garage for snow machines. It
was all finished with the installation of new lighting equipment,
with 25 light pylons with a current power of 240 lux. and
the possibility of increasing this to 700 lux. to allow
television filming of night-time competitions.

The Buffaure ski
area is located at Pozza di Fassa, in the heart of
the Dolomiti Superski area and it is linked to the
Ciampac ski area. It is situated at the centre of
the Valle di Fassa with its ski circuit, nursery slopes,
enchanting Dolomites scenery with views over the Monzoni
mountains, the Vajolet and the Sella and Marmolada
groups. Holidaymakers here will find well-maintained
ski-runs and fast lifts for any level of skier, both
beginner and expert. Those who want to try their skills
at competition skiing can do so at the Ski Stadium
with the opportunity to practise by night as well.
For our youngest visitors, there is a nursery slope
with games devised especially for them and a circuit
that is lit up for night-time cross-country skiing.
